WHAT I DID
Product Design
THE PROJECT
This seven weeks project was a unique product design collaboration initiative between Tchibo GmbH and the AMD Academy during my undergraduate studies. Myself and five other students were offered to participate in this collaboration due to our unique design skillsets and capabilities.
The brief was to create a seasonal household product line for spring. The theme included inspirations of spring flowers, light, translucency and lucidity.
THE APPROACH
The group decided to focus on kitchen & bath household articles along with related accessories; each student had to select and design three to five products for the line which were pitched to the project stakeholders. A panel of project owners, senior designers and lecturers decided which designs to move forwards to next stages.
This experience was my first in industry team-collaboration. I learned how to work in an agency type environment closely with various Tchibo departments but also managing stakeholder expectations.
During individual and collaborative design phases I created sketches, choose fabrics, product colours and materials for the final products. On a weekly basis progress was presented in a digital format supported by prints on mood boards to stakeholders.

CONCLUSION
At the end of the seven weeks a panel of Tchibo and AMD stakeholder panel selected a number of designs for manufacturing from the submitted product proposals. Among others successful selections my contribution included a shower curtain, a vase, a patterned glass plate and a set of different coloured glass bowls. These products were sold nation-wide in Germany in selected Tchibo stores.
